Video, I'm, going to share 20 self-care ideas for stress. That you can all do at home. They are free and they do not take up a lot of your time., And these are the activities that I like to do whenever I feel that I want to de-stress and relax.

. For me, the year of 2020 has been one long reminder of the importance of having a self-care practice., And these self-care activities have been really helpful for me this year. So I'm excited to share them with you, today.

, And I feel like with self care. It is not just something that we can practice when we're feeling badly.. We can actually also practice it when we're feeling good as more of a preventative thing., And so all these activities that I'm going to share with you today, will help you to take care of yourself mentally physically and emotionally.

. This video is sponsored by Native., So a really big thanks to them for continuing to support my channel highly appreciated, and we will chat more about them later.. The first tip is something that I always start with myself, so I wanted to mention this one.

First, at the beginning of our list., And that is acceptance.. It is not so much an activity as it is a mindset or a realization., So to be able to notice any signals that our body and our mind is giving us and to just accept whatever is going on.

. However, we are feeling. At any given moment. Instead of trying to fight whatever is going on., I used to be someone who got stressed about being stressed. And I got worried about being worried.. And let me know in the comments if you recognize this.

- And I know now that this only makes it worse. And relaxation is something that actually comes over you when you are able to let go. And therefore it is not something that you can force.. It is not a switch that you can toggle on and off.

, And it all begins with noticing how we're feeling and accepting where we are in each moment. Self care tip number two is then to set the mood., By which I mean creating The best circumstances we can to set ourselves up right.

And to be able to make it easier for ourselves to find some relaxation.. So this can mean a number of things.. You could try dimming the lights a little or lighting a nice candle grabbing a blanket.. Turning off loud noises or a loud tv.

, And for me it always means getting comfy in my pajamas and wearing warm fuzzy slippers.. This act in itself is already very wonderful because it means that you are taking care of yourself. And you're, making things nicer and easier for yourself.

, Which is something that I feel a lot of us can do a bit more often.. When I feel like winding down and getting out of my head a little, nothing beats the magic of listening to relaxing music. And I feel like a lot of people's.

Hearts and minds really respond to music. So put on something that you like. That makes you feel comforted.. It does not have to be new agey. If that is not your thing., It can be anything that fits your personality and preferences.

. For me, it is bands like Sigur, Ros and Jonsi that often do the trick.. I also really like to listen to chill step or lo-fi., so just choose something that you find beautiful and that gets you out of your head a little bit.

. The next self care idea for stress is to slow down consciously., So set an intention for yourself that for the next 15 minutes, whatever you're doing you're, doing it more slowly., So you can walk more slowly.

Or if you Are making a cup of tea or clearing out the dishwasher? You can do that more slowly., So really slow down your movements.. Often when we feel stressed we are also rushing. And that can lead to us feeling even more rushed and more stressed.

. So the beauty of slowing down your movements is that it can actually also help you to slow down your thoughts and emotions.. We have 15 more self care ideas for stress coming up, but first the quick word for today's, sponsor Native.

And I've worked with them before their natural deodorants have been keeping me fresh and smelling good for about 10 months. Now. And I'm excited because they recently added a new plastic free product line.

, So it is the same Native formula but a more sustainable packaging.. This packaging is zero percent plastic.. It is made from paper board that's sourced from responsibly managed, forests. And Native is also a member of one percent for the planet.

, Which means that one percent of the plastic free deodorant sales is donated to environmental nonprofits.. The formula is still the same, so it dries quickly. It is not sticky which I really like., And this time I chose cucumber mint citrus herbal musk and coconut vanilla.

, And I love them all, but definitely still cucumber mint has to be my all-time favorite.. I just love how fresh this smells. And I really like how their deodorants always smell, like something that you want to drink like a really nice refreshing summer drink.

, And they also have some holiday scents now like candy cane.. These deodorants are all free from aluminum, parabens and sulfate.. They are vegan and cruelty. Free. And I'm - just really happy with them, because they are the only natural deodorants that I have tried that actually do a good job in keeping me fresh and smelling good all day.

, And they smell so good that actually I don't even really wear perfume anymore. There's, free shipping available to the US., And I have a discount code in the description that you can use.. Normally you can get three plastic free deodorants for $ 39, but if you use my link and discount code, you can get them for $ 29.

, So that is 25 % off. All right. A big thanks to Native, let's, get back to the video.. This next self care activity is something that I learned from Yoga with Adriane., So you might know who that is, credits to her.

, And it is an exercise that she sometimes does in her videos and she calls it knocking on heaven's. Door. - And I remember the first time I tried this - I was so surprised at how good this works. And it feels a little bit silly in the beginning, but trust me it can really work wonders.

To start just stand somewhere where you have a little bit of Room around you. And keep your feet hip width apart with a slight bend in your knees. And then just move your arms from left to right. And after a while, it will start to feel a little bit like spaghetti arms.

. And you can just do this. For about one or two minutes, after which you will slow down and stand still for a few seconds., If you & # 39, ve never tried this before then give it a go, and let me know what you think.

And this one has actually become a staple In my self care practice. As weird as it may seem., Because it really helps me to get rid of nervous energy and get back into the present moment.. If you don & # 39, t feel like doing something silly like I just did with my arms flailing about, then you can try doing the following.

Just taking three conscious, deep breaths and sighing it out through the mouth., And I feel like sighing, is a bit Underrated., It is such a great stress, reliever. It really helps to release and let go.

, And if you do it three times in a row, I'm telling you that there is a chance. You already feel a little bit better. A little bit more relieved. And we always have access to our breath. We take it with us wherever we go.

, So it is a really nice thing to have in your arsenal.. So when I notice that I feel stressed or anxious, I like to just stop for a minute and take three breaths in and just sigh it out., After which I always notice that my breath has come down a little bit.

. So, instead of being very much here, it goes into my belly a little bit more. And I immediately feel a little bit calmer. I even do this when I shoot videos, for example, I just take a short moment to take three conscious, deep breaths.

, Another deep breathing exercise that I like to do when I feel stressed, or even when I have a slight headache. This tends to also work is nadi shodana. Or alternate nostril breathing., And if this is not your cup of tea, please bear with me.

. I actually have a video if you want to learn more about it, where I explain this technique.. It is pretty easy, but it takes a little bit of practice maybe.. So I will link that video in the description box for you to check out.

It's a bit of an older video, but it explains it really well.. The next self care idea for stress is to write it down or journal.. So take some time grab a piece of paper and a pen to write down what it is that you are thinking what it is you're feeling.

And what you think is causing you to feel stressed.. The best thing about writing things down. Is it helps to get these thoughts out of your head and into the open., And I often find that when I write things down, what is stressing me out? I realize that it is mostly just my own thoughts and my own headspace.

And the fact that I kind of went into this rabbit hole that is stressing me out. And it's, not so much reality. And reality isn't, even As bad as I felt, it was a minute ago. For me. It's, not an exaggeration, to say that getting into yoga was one of the best decisions I have ever ever made.

And even for someone whose muscles are as short and inflexible. As me can do it., So the tip here is to do some yoga. Or if that is not your thing, just do some simple stretches. And the point here is to get out of your head and into your body in a very soft and nurturing way.

. When I do this, I always leave the mat feeling better than I did when I got on it's really true., And sometimes I even notice that I get a little bit emotional. Because of the release of some of these emotions that I have Been holding on to for days or weeks, sometimes even that I didn't even notice were there.

If you find it hard to stop overthinking or stressing or worrying, then give this a try. Get into your body a bit., And you can do it By yourself, or there's, tons of great youtube videos out there that you can try.

. Just remember that this is something you're doing for yourself, not for anyone else.. So there's, no need to impress anyone - or you know, get out your great moves. Just do what feels good for you in the moment.

. If I can give someone one tip for distressing and calming down, it would probably be this one., And that is to keep your phone away for a while., And our phones are with us constantly. And without really realizing it.

They can make it very difficult for us to let go and truly unwind., Because they are always fighting for our attention and it keeps our nervous system in a hyper alert state.. So when you & # 39, re feeling stressed just see what it can do to put your phone in another room.

Just walk away. Let it be there do something else., It can really work wonders.. While your phone is away, you might want to try reading a book.. For me reading is one of the best self care things that I do.

. I love how it always transports me away from my own thoughts and feelings and negative spirals into another world., And if you are not that into reading, I actually think that actively watching a good movie can be very similar.

, But the trick is to do it actively. So really make it a nice moment for yourself. And give it your full attention. Self care tip. Number 12 is to meditate, or if that is not your thing, that's. Okay, too, just go sit somewhere for five minutes, while doing nothing.

Our mind is constantly filled with things. We need to do things we're, stressing about or worrying about or even excited about., And it can just be a lot and sometimes our mind. Just gets full. And what I find really helps in those moments is to just take a few minutes to do.

Nothing. I just sit, I stare at a wall and you know be still.. It has been a while, since I last made a meditation related video., And I'm - really curious. If that is something that you guys would like to see more of.

. So please, let me know down in the comments., As well as any questions or topic ideas that are meditation related that you would like me to discuss on the channel. So let me know. Another wonderful self care idea could be to cook something with focus.

. First of all, because it can really help to get us out of our worries and into the present moment, because you have to concentrate with cooking. And you cannotice, all the smells and the sounds., As well as the fact that eating a nourishing meal is great.

For self-care for our body and our soul., So whenever I feel stressed, I actually like to go into the kitchen and make something really nice for myself. And I usually end up feeling a little bit better.

Or find an opportunity to talk it out and share it. With someone. And talk about your feelings., So ask a neighbor or your partner or your friends or your relatives, if you can call them or video chat.

And sometimes there's, just nothing quite like getting our thoughts and feelings out into the open. Talking about them with someone., It can really bring a lot of relief as well as strengthen and deepen our bonds with others.

And, of course, going for a walk., And this can be in nature. But it doesn't even have to be.. Just getting out of your house can already be very healthy. And I always find that it helps me to get perspective.

So do be safe, but go out there get your body moving and just get some fresh air.. I know that most of these self-care activities so far have been kind of low-key, because that is just something that I really like.

, But some people need to be a little bit more active., In which case I would recommend getting some exercise in. And getting your heart Rate up getting a bit sweaty and then maybe taking a nice shower.

Can really do wonders.. It can help you to take care of your body as well as the mind. And it's great for relieving stress.. This might sound like a strange suggestion, but consider doing some deep cleaning.

, And I think this can work well because, first of all, it can help us to get out of our head and into the here and now, because you're actively doing something. And second, because it is just very satisfying to see something that used to be dirty become clean again.

, And I also feel that this can help us to have some more mental clarity. And find some new perspectives.. This next one is a bit of magic and it is called legs of the wall.. If you've, never done this before you've, never seen it.

It might seem a little strange., But it has become one of my favorites and I actually do this one regularly.. So what you do is you shimmy your butt up against the wall and you put your legs up against the wall.

And you can keep a generous bend in the knees if your legs are tight. And you can just chill there for a few minutes.. I personally find the simple act of getting down onto the floor to be already quite calming.

, And I find that sometimes my worries. Just don't. Follow me there.. So it's really nice., And this pose can also help with increasing circulation, increasing blood flow flexibility and calming down your nervous system.

. This next self care tip for when you're feeling stressed or anxious, is an important one, and it is an often overlooked one and that is to replace coffee with herbal tea.. Or, if you really like that coffee flavor, like me, try decaf coffee.

. I know that coffee can be like happy juice., And it works like that for me too., And it helps us to keep going., But at the same time, that caffeine can also keep us in a state of extra alertness.. And when you're already feeling stressed or rushed, then this can make it extra hard to wind down and relax.

. So for me, I always notice if I'm in that state of go, go, go and I feel rushed that it helps to switch to herbal tea or decaf coffee., Speaking of which do yourself a favor and set up a ritual of making and Slowly, enjoying your favorite worm beverage.

, I find that warm beverages are great for soothing, our soul and calming down., But we do not always take the time to enjoy them properly.. We might you know, drink them on the go or while we're doing another activity.

. So instead brew something lovely for yourself and just allow yourself that 15 minutes that it takes to enjoy it. Properly. Notice, the smells and the tastes., And just preferably do this in silence, while doing nothing else.

Or, of course, if you can enjoy this with someone that is also a great moment.. I invite you to choose one or two of these activities that I've shared in the video and do them for yourself, today. Or even right after watching this video.

, You really deserve it and it is okay.. I'd, love it. If you could give this video a thumbs up and subscribe, if you're, not already, because these are great things that you can do to support the channel.

And a quick reminder that this video is sponsored so feel free to check out Native links And discount code in the description. Right here I have a video with healthy habits that changed my life and right there.
